Is everything you sell grown by Flourish Produce?

Whilst most of the produce in the shop is grown onsite by Flourish Produce, we also offer complementary produce from other local farms and makers.

Is your own produce organically grown?

Everything produced at Flourish is grown to organic standards. We are currently in the process of obtaining organic certification through the Biodynamic Association.

Is everything you sell produced in the UK?

We prioritise things that are produced locally in the UK. There may be one or two items that are from further afield but sourcing British produce and supporting other small businesses is at the heart of what we do.

What does local mean?

We aim to support the businesses and producers in the neighbouring East Anglian counties: Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, and Hertfordshire. In a world where globalisation enables limitless boundaries for sourcing, we aim to stock British where a more local supplier is unavailable.

What sort of packaging do you use?

At Flourish Farm Shop we strive to eliminate single use plastics. Our fresh produce is sold using as little packaging as possible, and we ask customers to bring their own bags to carry home their purchases. We can also provide cardboard boxes/paper bags for carrying produce where necessary or you could buy a Flourish Tote bag. Our edible flowers and garnish are packed in compostable punnets and our flowers are wrapped in newspaper.

We strive to reduce and eventually eliminate the use of all disposable plastics but unfortunately we have yet to find another solution for our salad bags ( we are still searching) - please reuse these at home.

Do you do farm visits/tours?

We are not able to offer impromptu tours of the farm. We are a very busy working farm, and we do not have staff available to show visitors around. If you are interested in seeing more of the farm, please check the Events section on our website for the different seasonal events currently available (which include farm tours, floral workshops, evening events etc.)

Can I pick my own?

We do not yet offer the option to pick your own. We are currently planning a pick your own area for cut flowers and strawberries for next season.

Do you sell a weekly veg box?

Yes. We offer a weekly box of seasonal produce from our farm. Veg Boxes can be ordered online for collection from the Farm Shop. See the Veg Box page for more information.

What’s in the Veg Box?

Our Veg Boxes are seasonal. This means that the contents will vary each week and over the changing seasons. It will only ever contain produce that is currently being harvested on the farm or by neighbouring farmers. Luckily, we have a great diversity of produce at Flourish meaning that there is plenty of choice available all year round. But definitely no flavourless tomatoes in the winter! See the Veg Box tab for more information.

Why are there no aubergines in winter?

We grow nearly all of the fresh produce that you will see in the shop. We also source some things from other local farmers. This means we will only ever have produce that is seasonal. As the seasons change, different crops will be ready for harvest. Summer crops, such as tomatoes and aubergines, are only available in the summer.

What produce is available in the winter?

Thanks to the broad diversity of crops and varieties grown on the farm we still have plenty to offer over the winter months, including kale, collard greens, squashes, leeks, onions, garlic, swedes, broccoli, spinach, herbs, carrots, beetroots - to name but a few.

Where/how is your flour milled?

Our heritage grain flours are grown onsite and milled at Swaffam Prior Windmill by John.

Where do you deliver to?

We currently do not deliver. Please visit our Farm Shop on site at Flourish.

Do you do Gift Vouchers?

Yes, We offer Gift Vouchers for our shop and also to use on our farm events.

Is it possible to hire a venue on the farm for an event?

Whilst we have more plans to create an event space in the future, for now we can only offer the space in our Farm Shop to hire on Mondays and Tuesdays during the day and in the evenings. Please get in touch with us at office@flourishproduce.co.uk if you would like some more information.

The Farm

“The soil is the great connector of lives, the source and destination of all. It is the healer and restorer and resurrector, by which disease passes into health, age into youth, death into life. Without proper care for it we can have no community, because without proper care for it we can have no life.”

― Wendell Berry, The Unsettling of America: Culture and Agriculture

The soil is the heart of our farm. We cultivate our crops using farming practices that are as gentle on our soil as possible, and do everything in our power to increase the biodiversity of our farm. Our desire is that our farm becomes a haven for wildlife, along side producing a great diversity of nutritious crops that work together in a symbiotic system of abundance and resilience.
